      Detailed Specs

The track measurement system consists of the following modules: Sensors for track position detection, optical-fibre gyroscope, compact measuring cabinet and digital encoder.

The computer technique of the track measurement system is designed to connect different sensor systems for raw data collection. Depending on the basic situation, the techni-cal targets and the budget, electromechanical linear sensors or contact less working laser sensors can be used.

The optical , contactless sensors are important for the use in track measurement sys-tems on existing railway vehicles without measurement infrastructure. In this application, a digital Camera scans the chosen measuring point indicated by a Laser Line at the rail and the required values are calculated by analysing the camera picture.

Angle measuring with an optical fibre gyroscope:

The track level in two angels is detected by an optical fibre gyroscope.

On-Line visualisation of all track parameters:

The measured raw data from different sensors are let independently from the actual speed, to a multi- channel transient recorder system with FIFO (First In / First Out) Memory. The sampling frequency for the data recording is adjustable by the user between 5 and 1000 mm. The track parameters are immediately calculated out of the raw data and the ones that have been chosen by the user are carried out on a graphic display that is permanently updating itself. The values are shown at an adjustable scale and can be checked on the route.

On-Line comparisons with earlier measurement results are available and with the Excel export function, it is possible to convert the data into a tabular form.

Assessment and classification of the measurement results:

An expert system integrated into the track measurement softwre, permits an analysis of the measurement results and a classification of selectable track sections, with a mark system on a scale from 1 to 6.

The user can predefine classes according to the maximal allowed route speed.

The software package uses the chosen class as intervention thresholds to detect and select faulty areas on the track. After this the calculated data of the faulty areas can be transferred to maintenance railway vehicles.
